Hand crafted yogurt with locally sourced ingredients? Fresh daily? Specialty coffee and top-notch ingredients? Then head down to 268 Princess Street!
Parfait has our vote for their delicious frozen yogurt, with amazing fresh flavours from Greek yogurt to dairy-free peach to chocolate hazelnut. Top that off with fresh fruit, cookie dough, chocolate chips, nuts, granola, seeds, peanut butter and jam, and so much more.
So, if you haven’t visited the relatively new ‘Parfait’ in Kingston yet, where have you been?
Today we present you a Canadian speciality – the Beavertail!
Who could say no to fried dough with a toping of your choice – go typically Canadian with a maple spread or traditional with the classic chocolate-hazelnut cream!
We went for the classical chocolate cream but added banana to mix it up a little bit and for something more extravagant with cookies and vanilla icing and we can confirm it was de-li-cious!
This gem comes with a twist because there is no direct store in Kingston where you can buy it but you might be lucky: “Beavertails – Pastries since 1978” is visiting Queen’s University, Kingston till Thursday, starting every day at 10am!
So go and catch their food truck at University Avenue opposite Dunning Hall and enjoy!
Indulge in their hot chocolate; literally melted chocolate of your choice (and spice it up by adding a shot of alcohol)! Also on offer are crepes, waffles, chocolate fondue, cheesecake, chocolate ‘pizzas’, as well as a variety of savoury options.
Everything is best shared, so we would recommend the ‘for two’ options on this delicious menu. What about a little bitter chocolate experience for two? A dark chocolate classic waffle, fresh fruit, chocolate coated cereal, chocolate for dipping, marshmallows for grilling, chocolate covered ice cream and a small hot chocolate for sharing. Mmmmm.
Easily found on 340 King St E, Kingston, ON K7K 6Y3!
Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing bad about your average ham and cheese or egg salad sandwich, but to be honest every now and then we all fancy something a bit more special than that!
That’s where Juniper café (370 King Street West, Kingston, Ontario) comes into play:
This lovely little café brightens up your lunch break with its variety of tasty sandwiches, soups and salads!
Why get lost in the overwhelming busyness of Princess Street, when you can eat some of the best sandwiches in Kingston while looking out on Lake Ontario!
Our favourite this week: the “Suntech cucumber”! With pickled carrots, hummus, Glengarry chevre, and “patchwork gardens greens” on homemade bread you can never go wrong! And the toasted pecans give it just the certain something that makes it irresistible!
With its hidden location in the back of the TettCentre Juniper café truly is a hidden gem of Kingston’s culinary world.
Btw: Juniper café uses over 80% ingredients sourced from local farms and food producers all year round!
Some people may say that gelato is for sunny weather only; we say that they’re wrong! Especially when it comes to the assortment of creative and equally as delicious gelato flavours that Mio Gelato has to offer.
We took a cheeky visit downtown and asked some visitors for their favourite Mio picks, and have it on good authority that mojito, lemon greek yoghurt, rocky road, maple walnut, nutella and worms n’ dirt are but a few recommended scoops!
So get yourself down there, grab a cup (or a chocolate sprinkled cone) of this delicious treat, and brighten up your day!
